A pivotal moment to shape the concept of the building came from a student when asked what shape their school was if they had to describe it.
This landmark and important community project for an International Baccalaureate (IB curriculum) charter school in West Hartford, Connecticut, was a collective effort by project team, school community, and the greater neighborhood community. The circular school plan clustered classrooms along a connective spine interrupted by ‘spokes’ of communal shared program all looking into a centroid courtyard space filled with natural light, landscaping and an outdoor amphitheater gathering space.
